Utah

Utah hunting season delivers everything a hunter could desire. From big game to a variety of birds, deer, and furbearers—hunters and trappers can join together for the state’s beloved pastime. But to safely partake in the season, first make sure that you and your party are equipped with the necessary licensing and education for a safe hunt.

Before the beginning of the season, all hunters must obtain a basic hunting, fishing, or combination license. Hunters may apply for these online through the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources (DWR) or at a local vendor. But first, hunters must complete hunter education for safety and practical hunting skills. Nationally recognized hunter education courses are available online for different types of game and hunting methods.

Each season, hunters can participate in a hunt drawing. This drawing helps to balance a large number of hunters with the available species. Hunters may apply online for draws specific to their desired species. If successfully drawn, hunters will receive permits to hunt during a certain timeframe for the game hunted.
