New Hampshire

With vast acreage of state land and national forest, hunting wild game is a beloved pastime for New Hampshire residents and out-of-state visitors. Hunters can enjoy a variety of game options from turkey and pheasant to deer, moose, and black bear. For those interested in finding the best areas for hunting, trapping, and fishing, New Hampshire Fish & Wildlife has detailed where to hunt safely on state, federal, and private lands.

Hunting seasons are delineated by the species hunted. And these hunting seasons are further broken down by the choice of hunting weapon. Season dates span from April to December. To participate in hunting season, all hunters, trappers, and fishers must complete the appropriate safety education. Hunters over the age of 16 must possess a Hew Hampshire general firearm hunting, fishing, or archery license. For hunters under 16, seniors over the age of 68, or special residents—special permits and licenses are available.

Non-residents may also partake in the New Hampshire hunting and trapping seasons. Various non-resident licenses and permits are available for purchase. To obtain one of these licenses, a previous or current hunting license or hunter education card is required.
