Nebraska

The tradition of the hunt is a treasured pastime in Nebraska. Over the years, the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission has organized the most efficient and safest way for hunters to partake. Hunters ages 12-29 must complete mandatory hunter education and carry proof on their person when hunting. Likewise, the same age group must do the same if they intend to hunt with a separate bowhunter education course. Luckily, these courses are offered online and as a traditional classroom course.

Depending on the intended game, hunters need to get the relevant permits and stamps to legally enjoy hunting in Nebraska. Nonresidents are not eligible to hunt elk. Each species has its own season, and it’s important to check the dates annually.

Certain game licenses are distributed through a draw, while others can be purchased over the counter. For the draw, you can apply with a party through “Buddy Applications,” which ensures that both or neither of the party will draw a permit in the same unit. However, buddies must have the same residency status. To help hunters, the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission has created multiple guides to understand all the details of the hunting process.
