Missouri

If you’re planning a hunting trip in the Show-Me State, it’s important to be informed and have all of your permits up-to-date. There are a number of requirements that must be met before an individual can participate in hunting activities in Missouri. And these requirements can change due to a number of factors, including the type of hunting and where it takes place.

For example, Missouri’s hunter education course is a requirement for any hunter born on or after Jan. 1, 1967. It offers two certification options. The first is a two-step program for children 11 and up that trains attendees (online or in-person) before a skills session and final exam. And the second is a class for ages 16 and up that is completely online.

In addition, there are hunting basics and skills courses that can be helpful for hunting different types of game. Some of these events are in-person while others are completely online. To find the latest information, check the Missouri Department of Conservation’s (MDC’s) Hunting Events page.

Naturally, knowing where you’re allowed to hunt is as important as knowing what you’re allowed to hunt. Thankfully, the MDC offers resources to help hunters find the right location for their hunting trips. This information is divided into public land opportunities and private land opportunities to help you find the option that can serve your needs best.
