Connecticut

Hunting in Connecticut is a beloved tradition due to the state's beautiful landscape. However, all hunters must follow the state’s hunting rules and regulations if they want to experience this adventure. There are many rules established by the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) that all hunters must learn and remain up to date on.

Before hunters can even begin following the rules for the hunt, they must purchase the proper license after completing a Connecticut Conservation Education/Firearms Safety (CE/FS) course. This course is beneficial for those learning the regulations of the state.

There are many hunting laws all hunters must follow. For example, one general hunting law forbids public hunting on Sundays. However, private landowners may hunt depending on specific circumstances and permissions. Other rules prohibit hunting under the influence of drugs and alcohol or near roads, buildings, people, or domestic animals.

It is essential to remain current on the annual changes to regulations and season dates as they can vary yearly. Following these laws helps all hunters enjoy the hunt safely and legally.
