Arkansas

The state of Arkansas has become a popular hunting location because of the wide range of game opportunities. In fact, it is one reason we know this state as ‘the natural state.’ In order to hunt in the beautiful state of Arkansas, all hunters must obey the rules and regulations enforced by the Arkansas Game and Fishing Commission (AGFC).

If you are over the age of 16, you must have a hunting license and carry your hunter education card if born after 1968. Hunters can defer the hunter education requirement by only hunting under the supervision of a licensed hunter who has met the education requirement or was born after Dec. 31, 1968. Arkansas offers many special licenses beyond the annual standard hunting license. One of these licenses is the Resident Sportsman’s Lifetime Combination License and Permit, which allows residents to hunt in Arkansas for the rest of their lives.

As per the hunting regulations beyond licensing, hunters must know and follow every rule established by the AGFC. Otherwise, they will earn a violation point. Any individual who amasses 18 or more violation points within five years will have their fishing and hunting rights suspended. One can easily avoid this by respecting regulations.

For example, hunters may not hunt swimming deer, hunt from an aircraft or moving motorized land vehicle or use computer-assisted hunting equipment. For more information on the protocol, hunting zones, and other vital Arkansas hunting regulations, please refer to the yearly guidebook released by the AGFC. All hunters should review the latest hunting guidebook annually, as information often changes from year to year.
